State Rep. Jason Ortitay | Pennsylvania 46th Legislative District
As a public service, Representatives Tim O’Neal and Jason Ortitay will host a shredding event at Hollywood Casino at the Meadows. The event, scheduled for Saturday, April 26, aims to help residents of the 48th and 46th legislative districts protect themselves against identity theft by safely disposing of personal documents.
The shredding service will operate from 9 to 11 a.m. “Identity theft remains a problem,” Rep. O’Neal stated. “There are many ways identity thieves steal data, but one of the simplest ways to prevent falling victim is to properly destroy documents containing sensitive information. I encourage all residents to participate.”
Rep. Ortitay also expressed support for the initiative, stating, “I’m happy to partner with Rep. O’Neal for this event. Any steps you can take to avoid identity theft should be employed. I look forward to seeing residents take advantage of this opportunity.”
Participants are invited to bring all paper documents, limited to three brown paper grocery bags or small cardboard boxes per household. The event is not open to businesses, and bags are preferred over boxes. Large binder clips or hardbound covers are not allowed, and materials thicker than 1 inch must be broken down. Documents should be placed in the trunk of the vehicle to ensure a swift process, with participants remaining in their vehicles upon arrival.
For additional details, O’Neal’s district office can be reached at 724-223-4541, and Ortitay’s office at 412-221-5110. The 48th Legislative District comprises several areas in Washington County, while the 46th district spans select regions in both Washington and Allegheny counties.
