Health Science as a Career Day to be held Oct. 6

Waynesburg University will host Health Science as a Career Day Thursday, Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on its main campus in Waynesburg. The event is open to current junior and senior high school students with an interest in pursuing a career in nursing or health sciences.

“As Waynesburg University prides itself in providing hands-on learning opportunities to our undergraduate students, we are elated to offer this experience to high school students that are interested in pursuing careers in nursing or other health science related fields,” said Robert Barnhart, director of undergraduate and graduate admissions.

Prospective students will learn about the University’s Bachelor of Science programs in nursing and/or health and exercise science through participation in hands-on learning exercises and interactions with University faculty members and students. In addition, the offices of Admissions and Financial Aid will host a presentation to review the application process and information on financial aid. Lunch will be provided for attendees in the Benedum Dining Hall.

Interested students can register online at waynesburg.edu/groupvisit, or by contacting Barnhart at rdbarnha@waynesburg.edu or 800-225-7393.

The University offers an accelerated 3+2 athletic training program that prepares students to become Certified Athletic Trainers. Students who follow the 3+2 track receive a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Athletic Training degree in just five years.

Waynesburg’s nursing program has consistently been ranked regionally and nationally for value and academic excellence. The program’s high academic standards and early clinical opportunities are among the program’s advantages, including the state-of-the-art simulation laboratory.
