Rep. Jason Ortitay will lead a bridge dedication and sign unveiling ceremony on Friday, October 18, at 1:30 p.m. The event will honor Terry D. Tackett Jr., who passed away in a vehicular accident in October 2022. The bridge, which carries the Southern Beltway over State Route 980 in Cecil Township, is being named after Tackett for his heroic act of aiding a woman critically injured by a vehicle collision with the Allegheny County Building several years ago.

The ceremony is organized following an amendment by Ortitay into Act 63 of 2024. Joining Ortitay at the event will be Matt Burd from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and Terry Tackett Sr.

Attendees are requested to gather at the McDonald Heritage Library parking lot located at 52 Fourth St., McDonald. From there, a caravan will proceed to the sign location on the Southern Beltway. RSVP is necessary by contacting 412-221-5110.
