Rep. Jason Ortitay will lead a bridge dedication and sign unveiling ceremony on Friday, naming a bridge in honor of Terry D. Tackett Jr. The bridge carries the Southern Beltway over State Route 980 in Cecil Township. Tackett was known for assisting a critically injured woman in downtown Pittsburgh when a vehicle collided with the Allegheny County Building several years ago. He passed away in October 2022 due to a vehicular accident.
The event will feature Rep. Jason Ortitay, Matt Burd from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and Terry Tackett Sr. It is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 18 at 1:30 p.m., starting at the McDonald Heritage Library parking lot located at 52 Fourth St., McDonald. A caravan will proceed to the sign location on the Southern Beltway following the initial gathering.
