SOUTH PARK TOWNSHIP: South Park Township Summer Recreation

Business discussion

South Park Township recently issued the following announcement.

South Park Township children will once again be able to partake in the traditional Summer Recreation program that has been a staple of the Township’s summer programming.  As the safety and well-being of all residents is a top priority, the Recreation Department has developed a Covid-Friendly program that will still maintain all the fun that children have come to grow and love.

Program Details: This year’s Summer Recreation program will run from June 14th through July 30th.  Daily hours will run from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., Monday - Friday. Participants are encouraged to sign up early, as the programs numbers will be capped at around 90 children to stay within the state’s guidelines for social distancing and indoor capacity levels. While the primary focus will be keeping children outdoors to mitigate the risk of spreading Covid-19, inclement weather plans will be in place for some indoor programming. Each day of the program will have a different drop off location, utilizing the outdoor areas of the Township Complex, Evan’s Park, and various locations throughout Allegheny County’s South Park. Any changes during the program will be communicated to parents via text, email, and posts on the South Park Township Recreation page. Children can expect to be able to try their hand at tennis, karate, basketball, arts and crafts, yoga, visits with the Allegheny County Park Rangers, programs from the Carnegie Science Center, hikes, and much more.

Registration: Sign up for Summer Recreation online by clicking here. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the Recreation Director at 412-831-7000 or email at recreation@southparktwp.com.
