Rep. Valerie Gaydos, along with Sen. Devlin Robinson and the Sewickley Valley YMCA, will host National Healthy Kids Day on April 29. The event will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sewickley Valley YMCA.
National Healthy Kids Day is part of the YMCA's initiative to enhance the health and well-being of children and families. This event has been organized by YMCAs across communities for over three decades to encourage kids and families to stay active both mentally and physically during summer and beyond.
"All activities are designed to inspire kids to get active while simultaneously teaching families how to develop routines that support mental and physical health at home," said Gaydos. "A child’s health is the foundation of all growth and development. Other important parts include their learning and thinking development, social and emotional growth, and mental health."
Project D.U.M.P., an initiative aimed at proper disposal of unused or expired medications, will be present at the event. In response to the opioid crisis affecting many families in western Pennsylvania, Project D.U.M.P. encourages residents to bring any unused medications for safe disposal.
The Sewickley Valley YMCA can be found at 625 Blackburn Drive, Sewickley.
