Rep. Valerie Gaydos announced the allocation of $323,600 in grants for recreational improvements in Moon and Robinson townships, as well as Leetsdale Borough. The funding is part of the Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2), which aims to enhance local recreational facilities.
“These grants represent a vital investment in our community's future, enhancing access to green spaces and recreational opportunities for families and visitors,” said Gaydos. “I’m proud to support these projects that will not only preserve our natural environment but also create lasting benefits for the residents of Moon and Robinson townships and Leetsdale Borough.”
The Hollow Oak Land Trust has been awarded $52,400 for acquiring approximately 17.5 acres along Downing Drive in Moon Township to expand the Montour Woods Conservation Area. Additionally, the trust received $7,200 for equipment purchases to maintain and construct about 20 miles of trails in Moon and Robinson townships.
Leetsdale Borough was granted $249,000 for Henle Park rehabilitation. The project includes renovating a multi-sport court, constructing a pedestrian walkway, installing play equipment with safety surfacing, among other enhancements. Furthermore, Leetsdale Borough received $15,000 to develop a master site plan for the riverfront along the Allegheny River.
The C2P2 program is managed by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Bureau of Recreation and Conservation. It provides financial and technical support to local governments and organizations involved in park development and conservation efforts.
