Reps. Tim O’Neal and Andrew Kuzma will host a shredding event at Ringgold Middle School on Saturday, September 21. This initiative is designed to help residents of the 48th and 39th legislative districts protect themselves from identity theft by securely destroying personal documents.

The event will take place from 9-11 a.m. "Identity theft continues to be a problem," said O’Neal. "Properly destroying documents with sensitive information is one of the easiest ways to prevent becoming a victim. I encourage all residents to take advantage of this opportunity."

Kuzma added, "My first shredding event earlier this year was very popular. I’m happy to partner with Rep. O’Neal to bring this event to the southern portion of my legislative district. However, no matter where you live in either of our districts, you are welcome to attend."

Residents can bring paper documents for shredding, limited to three brown paper grocery bags or small cardboard boxes per household; businesses are excluded from participation. Bags are preferred over boxes, and items such as large binder clips or hardbound covers will not be accepted. Materials thicker than one inch need breaking down before submission.

Participants should place items in their vehicle's trunk and remain inside their vehicles during the process for efficiency purposes. For more details, contact O’Neal’s Washington district office at 724-223-4541 or Kuzma’s Pleasant Hills district office at 412-382-2009.

The 48th Legislative District encompasses parts of Washington County including the city of Washington and several townships and boroughs such as Donora and East Washington. The 39th Legislative District includes areas in Allegheny County like Elizabeth Township and Pleasant Hills Borough, along with portions in Washington County including Finleyville Borough.
