The Pennsylvania Senate has confirmed three district residents to significant positions, including two judges and the adjutant general. Senator Devlin Robinson announced the confirmations.
Brigadier General John Pippy was unanimously confirmed as the 55th Adjutant General of Pennsylvania. "General Pippy is a proven leader and exceptional officer who will undoubtedly serve Pennsylvania well," stated Robinson. He expressed pride in supporting Pippy's nomination.
Brigadier General Pippy has a background in both military service and politics. He was commissioned into the United States Army through West Point, earning a degree in environmental engineering. His military career includes service in Iraq, Kuwait, and Syria, where he earned the Bronze Star among other honors. The adjutant general oversees the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and the Pennsylvania National Guard.
Additionally, Simquita Bridges from Sewickley was confirmed as a judge for Allegheny County's 5th judicial district. Bridges holds degrees from Duquesne University and has worked with both the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General and Allegheny County's District Attorney Office.
Chief John Kearney, serving as chief deputy of the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office, was appointed magisterial district judge for district 05-3-17. With over 40 years in law enforcement, Kearney has advanced to sergeant and lieutenant roles.
"Ms. Bridges and Chief Kearney are dedicated public servants and leaders with extensive experience," Robinson commented. "I am confident in their abilities to serve effectively as judges in our commonwealth, and I was proud to recommend them to my Senate colleagues."
Both Bridges and Kearney were approved by a Senate vote of 44-4.
