Rep. Valerie Gaydos of Allegheny has announced that the 44th Legislative District will receive over $1.4 million in state grants from the Gaming Economic Development and Tourism Fund (GEDTF). The funding is aimed at supporting infrastructure upgrades, public safety enhancements, and community improvements across the district.
Gaydos collaborated with Sen. Devlin Robinson to secure this financial support. "I’m excited to see these critical projects moving forward with state support," stated Gaydos. "These investments will improve our local infrastructure, enhance public safety and provide opportunities for residents to thrive."
The funding will be distributed among several projects in the district:
- Aleppo Township: $100,000 for constructing a retaining wall for the Rhodes Avenue landslide project.
- Glenn Osborne: $100,000 for replacing old sanitary sewer pipes and repairing sewer inlets.
- Leet Township: $19,909 for replacing the Big Sewickley Creek Road water line.
- Leet Township: $220,800 for renovating two borough buildings.
- Findlay Township: $500,000 for expanding the Imperial Volunteer Fire Department station.
- Moon Township: $50,000 for improvements to the Moon Park amphitheater.
- Sewickley Borough: $150,000 for sewer system repairs.
- Sewickley Borough: $250,000 for installing a new UV system to replace old tanks.
- Sewickley Borough: $20,000 for post office renovations including ADA parking and infrastructure upgrades.
- Sewickley Hills Borough: $20,000 for park improvements including constructing a concrete walking path.
The GEDTF program funds are sourced from state taxes on slot games at casinos and focus on projects promoting local development and enhancing public services.
