State lawmakers in Pennsylvania have announced the allocation of over $1 million in state funding for several local infrastructure projects. These funds, provided through the Multimodal Transportation Fund, aim to improve transportation safety and connectivity while promoting economic growth.
Senator Devlin Robinson expressed his enthusiasm for the funding being directed to his district, stating, “The Multimodal Transportation Fund supports critical infrastructure needs across the commonwealth, and I am eager to see the positive effects this funding will have in our region.”
Among the beneficiaries is Bethel Park Municipality, which will receive $258,625 for upgrades at the intersection of Kings School and Library roads. Representative Natalie Mihalek emphasized the importance of safety at this busy intersection, noting its high traffic from both vehicles and pedestrians.
Ben Avon Heights Borough has been granted $250,000 for a sidewalk installation along Canterbury Road. Representative Arvind Venkat highlighted the project's role in enhancing resident safety and community connectivity.
Pleasant Hills Borough is set to receive $496,082 for improvements on East Bruceton Road and Winifred Drive. Representative Andrew Kuzma pointed out that these enhancements are crucial due to increased traffic at this location.
Additionally, South Fayette Township will benefit from $130,000 allocated for trail improvements on Panhandle Trail. Representative Jason Ortitay remarked on how these upgrades would enhance safety and overall trail experience.
The grants were distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority as part of efforts to maintain a safe and reliable transportation system across Pennsylvania.
