Rep. Jason Ortitay has announced the acquisition of over $312,000 in grants from the Gaming Economic Development and Tourism Fund (GEDTF) Program for projects in McDonald and Oakdale boroughs. The GEDTF program aims to support development projects in Allegheny County, including economic growth, infrastructure improvements, community enhancements, job training, public safety, and public interest initiatives. The funding is sourced from taxes on slot machines in casinos.

"Both of these projects will address local issues," stated Ortitay. "I’m pleased to have been able to work with Sen. Devlin Robinson to make the Oakdale project a reality. This project is part of a multi-pronged approach to mitigate flooding in Oakdale. In addition, the McDonald project will improve East End Park."

The grant allocation includes $120,000 for McDonald, intended for development and security upgrades at East End Park. Oakdale will receive $192,363 to stabilize the Clinton Avenue stream bank using riprap with stone.

The 46th Legislative District represented by Ortitay includes South Fayette Township as well as McDonald and Oakdale boroughs within Allegheny County. It also covers Cecil, Chartiers, Mt. Pleasant and North Strabane townships along with Canonsburg, Houston and McDonald boroughs in Washington County.
