State Rep. Andrew Kuzma | Pennsylvania 39th Legislative District
Rep. Andrew Kuzma, representing the 39th Legislative District in Pennsylvania, has begun his second term in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. During this session, he has secured a position on the Judiciary Committee, along with seats on three other committees.
Kuzma expressed enthusiasm about his role on the Judiciary Committee, stating: “Last legislative session, the House Judiciary Committee had the most bills referred to it, reported out to the full House and enacted into law.” He added that this committee plays a crucial role in ensuring laws are up-to-date and relevant to daily life. "I believe this is one of the most important committees in the House and where I can be the most effective," he noted. Previously, Kuzma successfully passed legislation banning gas station heroin through this committee.
The Judiciary Committee addresses various legal issues including identity theft, firearms laws, domestic violence, child abuse laws, state prisons and criminal law. It oversees legislation related to several codes such as Judicial Code and Crimes Code.
In addition to his work on the Judiciary Committee, Kuzma will serve on the Game and Fisheries Committee which reviews reports from state commissions and handles related legislation. The Local Government Committee will also benefit from his involvement as it evaluates bills affecting municipal operations across over 2,500 local government units in Pennsylvania.
Lastly, Kuzma's participation extends to the Professional Licensure Committee which oversees professional licensing boards within Pennsylvania’s Department of State. This committee ensures proper regulation of professions ranging from physicians to real estate agents.
The 39th Legislative District includes areas within Allegheny County such as Elizabeth Township and Jefferson Hills Boroughs as well as parts of Washington County including Monongahela City.
