Rep. Valerie Gaydos of Allegheny County has been appointed as the Republican secretary of the House Liquor Control Committee for a second term. The appointment was made by House Republican Leader Bryan Cutler from Lancaster.

The committee handles matters related to alcoholic beverage licenses and their sale and distribution. Gaydos expressed her enthusiasm about continuing in this role, stating, "I am grateful for the opportunity to once again serve as secretary of this committee for the 2023-24 Legislative Session." She added that she looks forward to advocating for increased customer convenience, streamlined business practices, and greater transparency in state stores.

Cutler praised Gaydos's dedication, saying, "Rep. Gaydos has always shown a strong commitment to doing what is in the best interest of the people of her district and the Commonwealth." He noted that her thorough approach would benefit both the committee members and policy decisions affecting Pennsylvania consumers and taxpayers.

Committees are essential in reviewing bills before they reach the full House for a vote. During this process, amendments can be proposed, discussions held, and hearings conducted to gather more information on legislative issues.

In addition to her role on the Liquor Control Committee, Gaydos serves on several other committees and boards. She is part of the House Government Oversight Committee and represents Republicans on America250PA Commission. She also holds positions with Team Pennsylvania Foundation's board of directors and is involved with the Small Business Council under Pennsylvania's Department of Community and Economic Development. Moreover, she co-chairs both the House Life Sciences Caucus and Cybersecurity Caucus while being a member of the House Cancer Caucus.
