Rep. Valerie Gaydos of Allegheny has announced that nearly $1.9 million in state funding will be allocated to local municipalities and authorities within the 44th Legislative District. This funding, provided through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), is aimed at supporting a range of community improvement projects. These projects include infrastructure upgrades, flood prevention measures, and initiatives to enhance public safety and quality of life for residents.

“These grants provide a vital boost to our local communities, enabling them to make long-needed improvements that directly impact the quality of life for residents,” stated Gaydos. “From enhancing infrastructure to addressing critical public safety concerns, these investments are key to ensuring our municipalities remain vibrant and resilient for years to come. I completely support the ongoing growth and development of our region.”

The grants have been distributed as follows:

- Bell Acres Borough received $16,150 for a municipal complex survey project, which involves evaluating potential locations for a new building or options for expanding and renovating an existing one.

- Crescent Township was awarded $233,333 for construction and engineering costs related to repairing the Main Street bridge.

- Edgeworth Borough Municipal Authority secured multiple grants: $50,450 for purchasing a hydro-vac trailer; $136,900 for reservoir wall repairs; and $30,894 for pump station repairs.

- Leet Township Municipal Authority received $155,000 for sanitary sewer repairs due to basement flooding issues along Beech Street.

- Moon Township was granted $420,000 for extending water services via the Moon Township Boggs Run Volunteer Fire Company Waterline Extension project. Additionally, it received $750,000 for acquiring property to develop the Hirshinger Pedestrian and Pike Pathway and Conservation Corridor.

- Sewickley Borough obtained $75,000 to install an elevator at the Sewickley Valley Cultural Center.

The CFA is an independent agency responsible for overseeing programs and investments that contribute to Pennsylvania's economic growth. The LSA grants are funded by gaming revenues.
