Rep. Jason Ortitay has announced the allocation of $1.03 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grants for four projects within Pennsylvania's 46th Legislative District. The funds, distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), are part of Act 71 of 2004, which directs gaming revenues to support public interest projects.
Ortitay expressed satisfaction with the secured funding, stating, “I’m pleased my advocacy for these projects paid off. Each will address a crucial need. The improvements to our area parks, in particular, will enhance the community’s offerings for many residents.”
The municipalities benefiting from these grants include:
- Chartiers Township: Receiving $375,000 to install a new section of pressure sewer in the Arden Mines community.
- Houston Borough: Allocated $136,900 for replacing and updating traffic signals at key intersections.
- McDonald Borough: Granted $185,000 for Heritage Park improvements, including ADA-compliant facilities and a band shell.
- Mount Pleasant Township: Awarded $336,787 to update buildings and equipment across four community parks.
The 46th Legislative District covers parts of Allegheny County such as South Fayette Township and McDonald and Oakdale boroughs. It also includes Cecil, Chartiers, Mt. Pleasant and North Strabane townships along with Canonsburg, Houston and McDonald boroughs in Washington County.
