Rep. Andrew Kuzma of the 39th Legislative District hosted a hearing on inflation's impact on communities, businesses, and households in Pennsylvania. The House Policy Committee, chaired by Rep. Josh Kail, convened to discuss the issue under the theme “Relief is Possible: Combatting the Crisis of Cost.”

Testifiers included Doug Pascoe from South East Regional EMS, Norm Candelore from Sarris Candies, Patrick Haver from the district, and Kurt Couchman from Americans for Prosperity. They highlighted how inflation affects various sectors in Pennsylvania.

According to Pennsylvania’s Joint Economic Committee State Inflation Tracker, “the average household in Pennsylvania is paying $984 more per month” compared to January 2021. Food expenses have also increased by $140 monthly.

Rep. Kuzma noted that his constituents face challenges with rising prices affecting mortgages and everyday costs. He expressed commitment to finding legislative solutions to ease these burdens.

“Pennsylvanians are incredibly hard-working people,” said Kail. “Prosperity is when you and your families... thrive.”

The hearing aimed at gathering ideas for future legislative action.
