The Senate Transportation Committee has approved Sen. Devlin Robinson’s (R-37) initiative included in House Bill 2301, which allows recipients of the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (GWOT-EM) to apply for a specialty license plate at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. This plate aims to honor Pennsylvania veterans who have earned the medal through their service overseas in the War on Terror.

“It is imperative to continue to recognize and honor the service of our veterans,” said Robinson. “The specialty license plate is a meaningful way to express our gratitude for their unwavering commitment and bravery in the Global War on Terrorism. I am honored to have championed this initiative as a token of appreciation for their efforts and sacrifices.”

The GWOT-EM was established by President George W. Bush on March 12, 2003, to recognize members of the Armed Forces deployed in direct service to the War on Terror following the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. The award symbolizes the bravery and dedication of those who have served in the ongoing fight against terrorism. The specialty plate serves as a public acknowledgment of these contributions and sacrifices.

The bill now heads to the Senate for consideration.
