HARRISBURG – Legislation aimed at propelling Pennsylvania's advanced manufacturing sector forward was approved by the Senate today. The bill, sponsored by Sen. Devlin Robinson, chair of the Senate’s Labor and Industry Committee, is set to boost economic development, attract high-technology industries, and incentivize private investment.

"Pennsylvania’s workforce is one of the most productive on the planet," highlighted Senator Robinson, emphasizing the potential of the state's labor force. He further stated, "With enactment of Senate Bill 497, we can attract even more innovative and entrepreneurial experts to our commonwealth by providing support for technology advancement."

The legislation focuses on establishing and supporting public-private partnerships between state-related universities and private engineering entities through a grant and loan program. By concentrating on infrastructure and innovation, these partnerships aim to develop programs that fund shared research facilities and equipment while creating incentives to draw high-technology industries for advanced manufacturing into Pennsylvania.

The bill has successfully passed the Senate and is now on its way to the House of Representatives for further consideration and approval.
