Numerous Fire, EMS Grants Awarded, Kuzma Says

HARRISBURG – In a press release today, Rep. Andrew Kuzma (R-Allegheny/Washington) announced that 18 fire companies and emergency medical service companies serving the 39th Legislative District have been awarded over $357,000 in Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service grants. The grant money comes from state gaming proceeds and is open to volunteer and career fire companies, emergency medical services, and rescue squads in Pennsylvania. The funding can be used for various purposes such as construction, equipment purchase or repair, debt reduction, and training.

Kuzma expressed his gratitude to the emergency responders, stating, "We owe a debt of gratitude to our emergency responders for their immeasurable service in keeping our communities safe no matter what time of day or weather condition." He also emphasized the importance of the grant money returning to the area, saying, "I am pleased to see this money returning to our area in a way that benefits and helps to protect every person in the 39th Legislative District."

The fire and emergency medical services companies that serve the 39th District have been awarded the following amounts:

- Baldwin Emergency Medical Services – $45,785.

- Blaine Hill Volunteer Fire Company – $16,174.

- Southeast Regional EMS – $40,000.

- Elizabeth Borough Volunteer Fire Company – $29,952.

- Elizabeth Township Fire Department No. 1 – $42,952.

- Elrama Volunteer Fire Company – $15,000.

- Finleyville Volunteer Fire Department – $13,451.

- Floreffe Volunteer Fire Company – $14,423.

- Forward Township Volunteer Fire Company and Relief Association – $13,062.

- Jefferson 885 Volunteer Fire Company – $16,368.

- Library Volunteer Fire Company – $14,812.

- Monongahela Fire Company – $13,451.

- New Eagle Volunteer Fire Department – $13,256.

- Pleasant Hills Volunteer Fire Company – $14,850.

- Tri Community Ambulance – $15,000.

- Tri Community South EMS – Upper St. Clair Township – $10,000.

- Valley Inn Volunteer Fire Department – $14,423.

- Volunteer Fire Department of Carroll Township – $14,423.

Kuzma's announcement highlights the significance of these grants for the 39th Legislative District, which includes Elizabeth, Forward and South Park townships and Elizabeth, Jefferson Hills, Pleasant Hills, and West Elizabeth boroughs in Allegheny County; and Union and part of Carroll townships, Finleyville and New Eagle boroughs, and the city of Monongahela in Washington County.
