Nearly $200,000 has been allocated to fire and ambulance companies in Pennsylvania's 46th Legislative District through Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grants. Representative Jason Ortitay, who serves parts of Washington and Allegheny counties, confirmed the awards to 13 local fire and EMS organizations.
The grant program, which began in 2000, extends its support to both volunteer and professional fire companies, EMS, and rescue squads across Pennsylvania. Funds are available for facility construction or repair, equipment purchase or repair, debt reduction, and training needs, contingent on the completion of grant agreements with the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.
"Firefighter and emergency medical service personnel go above and beyond on a daily basis to keep us safe," stated Ortitay. "These grants are just a small way to help them do their job. Many emergency service personnel devote a lot of time to raise funds. The grants help lighten the burden a little."
