Rep. Jason Ortitay has officially commenced his sixth term in the Pennsylvania Legislature. As of today, he also assumes the role of Republican chairman of the newly established House Communications and Technology Committee for the 2025-26 Legislative Session.
The committee's formation marks a new focus on issues related to internet, social media, cybersecurity, and other technology matters within the legislative framework. "I’m pleased to have been appointed to chair this important committee," stated Ortitay. He emphasized the need for timely responses to technological changes: "Technology continues to evolve at a lighting pace. We need to be prepared to respond to issues and concerns in a timely fashion." Ortitay expressed eagerness in collaborating with fellow legislators to ensure that Pennsylvania laws remain relevant amidst evolving technological landscapes.
Ortitay represents the 46th Legislative District, which includes South Fayette Township and McDonald and Oakdale boroughs in Allegheny County, as well as several townships and boroughs in Washington County.
