Rep. Jason Ortitay, a Republican from Washington and Allegheny counties, has officially started his sixth term in the Pennsylvania Legislature. He has also been appointed as the Republican chairman of the newly established House Communications and Technology Committee for the 2025-26 Legislative Session.
The committee will address various technology-related issues, including internet governance, social media regulations, and cybersecurity concerns. "I’m pleased to have been appointed to chair this important committee," Ortitay stated. He emphasized the rapid evolution of technology and expressed a commitment to ensuring that Pennsylvania's laws are responsive to new developments. "We need to be prepared to respond to issues and concerns in a timely fashion," he added.
Ortitay's 46th Legislative District covers South Fayette Township along with McDonald and Oakdale boroughs in Allegheny County. It also includes Cecil, Chartiers, Mt. Pleasant, North Strabane townships (Districts 6 through 9), as well as Canonsburg, Houston, and McDonald boroughs in Washington County.
