Legislation supporting disabled veterans has been unanimously approved by the Senate today, according to the bill’s sponsor, Sen. Devlin Robinson (R-37). Senate Bill 698 would require the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) to issue Military Hunting Event License Exemptions and Permits for Purple Heart recipients and disabled veterans for their rehabilitation and enjoyment.

These events are held on private land with the express approval of the landowner, without imposing significant costs or resource burdens on the PGC. All permit holders will be subject to normal reporting requirements, seasons, and bag limits.

“As a Marine Corps veteran, I have seen firsthand the afflictions my fellow men and women in uniform have endured while proudly serving our country,” Robinson said. “As they recuperate physically and mentally, we must ensure they won’t be encumbered by logistical or financial roadblocks that can come with obtaining permits. I appreciate the strong bipartisan support in the Senate today for our recovering veterans.”

The bill now heads to the House of Representatives.
