Born in Crafton, Pennsylvania, on May 8, 1957, Bill Cowher became a football coach after a six-year playing career in the NFL. He was head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers for 15 seasons. Under his leadership, the Steelers won Super Bowl XL, eight division titles, and made ten postseason appearances. He was the second NFL coach to reach the playoffs in each of his first six seasons. In 2020, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. After retiring from coaching, he became a football analyst. His connection to Pittsburgh and Crafton remained strong throughout his career. Cowher’s early life in Crafton shaped his path in football, as he grew up near Three Rivers Stadium. His father attended Duquesne University, further linking the family to the area. He continues to be recognized for his contributions to the sport and his lasting impact on the Steelers.
