Rep. Valerie Gaydos of Allegheny announced that schools in the 44th Legislative District have received over $508,000 in grants. The funds were allocated by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency's School Safety and Security Committee.

"Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students is a top priority, and these grants will play a crucial role in strengthening the mental health and security resources in our local schools," said Gaydos. "I’m proud to see Moon Area, West Allegheny, Quaker Valley, and Saint James School receive these vital funds. With these investments, we are not only securing our campuses but also providing the support necessary to help students succeed emotionally and academically."

The grant distribution includes $175,321 for Moon Area School District, $162,020 for West Allegheny School District, and $133,241 for Quaker Valley School District. Additionally, Saint James School was awarded a $37,500 targeted school safety grant for nonpublic schools.

These grants aim to enhance safety measures and provide essential mental health services for students and staff across Pennsylvania.
