Rep. Valerie Gaydos from Allegheny has been appointed by former Speaker Bryan Cutler to serve as the House Republican Caucus designee for the Pennsylvania Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial, also known as America250PA. Additionally, she will be a member of both the Fundraising and Historical Preservation committees.
"I am excited to be a part of the America250PA Commission to help celebrate 250 years of all of the many great opportunities, inventions and innovations that America has offered to its citizens and to the world," Gaydos stated. "It is a time to celebrate the best of our past, the best of our present, and to help craft a vision for an even better future. Happy Birthday, America!"
America250PA was established in 2018 by both the Legislature and governor with a mission to plan and coordinate events commemorating 250 years since America's founding. The commission aims to highlight Pennsylvania's significant role in this history and involves leaders from various sectors including current and past state officials, private citizens, and industry representatives.
"The big event is just over three years away, but from federal and state agencies to local museums, planning is continuing at a rapid pace with Pennsylvania taking a lead role," said Gaydos. "I am eager to be a part of the most inclusive anniversary observance in our nation’s history."
