Rep. Jason Ortitay has announced the allocation of $8.5 million for improvement projects in Pennsylvania's 46th Legislative District. The funds, sourced from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), are intended to bolster local infrastructure and stimulate economic growth.
“Today’s announcement is a significant boost for our community, providing essential resources to projects that will directly benefit residents,” Ortitay stated. He added that the investments aim to enhance healthcare facilities, educational resources, and promote sustainable economic development within the district.
The funding is earmarked for several key initiatives:
- T&R Properties Inc. will receive $4 million to develop 250 acres of forest-covered land. This project includes basic infrastructure installations such as water, gas, electricity, and road construction for Cool Valley II.
- Canonsburg General Hospital is set to receive $2.5 million to temporarily relocate its helipad and heliport due to new construction efforts. The plan involves site preparation, installing new traffic signals, and constructing a structure that combines hospital and medical office functions.
- Canonsburg Education and Cultural Institute Inc. has been awarded $1 million for acquiring and renovating a campus previously used as a middle school. The facility features a gymnasium, pool, auditorium, classrooms, and office spaces.
- Blue Sky Acquisition LLC will utilize $1 million for environmental remediation at Newbury Market. The funds will cover site work and grading, offsite traffic improvements, and an underground stormwater collection system installation.
The RACP is a grant initiative managed by the Office of the Budget designed to support projects fostering regional economic, cultural, civic, and recreational development.
