Rep. Andrew Kuzma (R-Allegheny/Washington) has announced a partnership with the Jefferson Hills Borough Police Department to host a free event for residents to replace illegible license plates. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Jefferson Hills Borough Complex, located at 925 Old Clairton Road, Jefferson Hills, from 9 a.m. to noon.
“Weather or age can cause the numbers and letters on a license plate to become difficult to read,” Kuzma stated. “PennDOT offers replacement plates free of charge once they are certified as needing replacement. These events help facilitate the process and have proven to be well received when I have held them in the past.”
Participants whose license plates are deemed illegible will have paperwork completed at no cost. Attendees must bring their driver’s license and vehicle registration. The new plate should arrive within a few weeks at the vehicle owner's home address. RSVPs are required at www.RepKuzma.com/events, and further inquiries can be directed to Kuzma’s district office at 412-382-2009.
According to PennDOT guidelines, a registration plate is considered illegible if one or more numbers or letters cannot be recognized from 50 feet away or if the plate exhibits blistering, peeling, discoloration, or loss of reflectivity.
The 39th Legislative District encompasses Elizabeth, Forward, and South Park townships; Elizabeth, Jefferson Hills, Pleasant Hills, and West Elizabeth boroughs in Allegheny County; as well as Union and part of Carroll townships; Finleyville and New Eagle boroughs; and the city of Monongahela in Washington County.
