Reps. Valerie Gaydos and Jessica Benham are set to discuss House Bill 1993, bipartisan legislation aimed at protecting pharmacies and residents who depend on prescription drugs. The bill, if passed, would address concerns related to Pennsylvania Benefit Managers (PBMs) and their practices. According to the announcement, the legislation would involve the Pennsylvania Insurance Department in developing a process to handle pharmacy complaints against PBMs.

The proposed bill also seeks to limit or prohibit certain practices by PBMs, including patient steering, spread pricing, and retroactive recoupment of funds paid by the PBM to the pharmacy. The press conference to discuss the details of the bill will take place on Wednesday, May 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Porter's Prescription Pharmacy in Moon Township.

Joining Reps. Gaydos and Benham at the event will be Sen. Devlin Robinson, as well as other state and local officials. Edward DeCaria, the owner of Porter's Prescription Pharmacy, will also be in attendance to provide insights from the perspective of a pharmacy owner.

For those unable to attend in person, the press conference will be live-streamed on RepGaydos.com and Facebook.com/RepGaydos. Media inquiries can be directed to Rick Leiner at 717-260-0647 or rleiner@pahousegop.com.
