HARRISBURG – Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-Allegheny/Washington) and Sen. Devlin Robinson (R-Allegheny/Washington) have announced that a $275,000 grant has been approved by the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Financing Authority for improvements to the Municipality of Bethel Park's Millennium Park. The grant, which comes from the Allegheny Gaming Economic Development Tourism Fund, will be used to install light poles at baseball fields in Millennium Park that currently do not have lighting.

"Bethel Park has worked hard to build and maintain a first-class location that's used by residents and visitors. This project will increase participation opportunities and allow the space to be used more frequently," said Mihalek. "I'm pleased that Sen. Robinson and I were able to make this happen."

The GEDTF program, established by Act 71 of 2004, was scheduled to end in 2019. However, Act 42 of 2017 extended the program for another 10 years. The program is funded through gaming revenues and does not include taxpayer money from the General Fund.

"The residents and municipal leaders obviously place a great deal of value in having great amenities like Millennium Park. Because of the significance that recreation brings to a community, it makes sense that grant dollars are invested this way," said Robinson. "Rep. Mihalek and I will continue to champion efforts that benefit our region's neighborhoods."

This grant will not only enhance the facilities at Millennium Park but also increase participation in baseball activities and provide more opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy the park. The addition of light poles will allow for extended playing hours, making the park more accessible and versatile for various events and activities.

The announcement of this grant demonstrates the commitment of Rep. Natalie Mihalek and Sen. Devlin Robinson to improving the community and investing in recreational spaces. Their dedication to securing funding for Millennium Park will have a positive impact on the residents of Bethel Park and the surrounding areas.

With the support of these elected officials, Bethel Park can continue to thrive as a vibrant community that offers high-quality amenities for its residents and visitors. The installation of light poles at the baseball fields in Millennium Park is just one example of the ongoing efforts to enhance the recreational opportunities available in the area.

The grant from the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Financing Authority is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Rep. Natalie Mihalek and Sen. Devlin Robinson. Their collaborative efforts have resulted in securing funding that will benefit the community and improve the overall quality of life in Bethel Park.

As the project moves forward, residents and visitors can look forward to enjoying the upgraded facilities at Millennium Park and taking part in a variety of baseball activities. The installation of light poles will undoubtedly make a significant difference and create a more inclusive and vibrant recreational space for everyone to enjoy.

Bethel Park can now anticipate an increase in the usage of Millennium Park, thanks to the efforts of Rep. Natalie Mihalek and Sen. Devlin Robinson. Their dedication to securing the grant for the installation of light poles at the baseball fields is a testament to their commitment to enhancing the community's recreational opportunities.

The future of Millennium Park looks brighter with the addition of light poles, and the community of Bethel Park can look forward to a more accessible and enjoyable recreational space. The grant approval is a significant achievement for Rep. Natalie Mihalek and Sen. Devlin Robinson, and their continued efforts to support the region's neighborhoods deserve commendation.
