Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny) has announced that he has secured $258,750 in funding for Oakdale Borough through the Gaming Economic Development and Tourism Fund (GEDTF) Program. The GEDTF program aims to promote development in Allegheny County by providing funding for various projects, including economic, infrastructure, and community improvements.
Ortitay emphasized the importance of the Oakdale Community Center as a gathering place for the community, stating, "As with any building, maintenance is required in order to remain operational. This project will help ensure the roof doesn’t leak for years to come."
The grant will specifically be used to install a new roof system on the borough's community center. The project will involve the removal of the existing roof system, inspection and repair of the roof deck as needed, installation of self-adhering ice and snow shielding, attachment of standing seam metal panels, and the installation of new trim metal, gutters, and fascia.
The 46th Legislative District, which includes South Fayette Township, McDonald, and Oakdale boroughs in Allegheny County, as well as Cecil, Chartiers, Mt. Pleasant, and North Strabane townships and Canonsburg, Houston, and McDonald boroughs in Washington County, will benefit from this funding.
This grant will contribute to the improvement and maintenance of the Oakdale Community Center, ensuring its continued functionality for the residents of Oakdale Borough.
