Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny) has announced that $242,250 in state funds will be released to McDonald Borough for the construction of restrooms at Heritage Park. The funding was secured through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Greenway, Trails and Recreation Program, which supports projects for the improvement and development of greenways, recreational trails, open spaces, and parks.
Ortitay expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "Recently, significant improvements have been made to Heritage Park. By adding these restrooms, the park will be more welcoming to visitors. In addition, the park serves as a crossroads for the Panhandle and Montour trails. The restrooms will encourage the use of these recreational opportunities too."
The grant money will be utilized to install restrooms that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), ensuring accessibility for all park visitors. With this addition, Heritage Park will become an even more inclusive and convenient destination for individuals and families.

The 46th Legislative District, represented by Rep. Ortitay, encompasses South Fayette Township and McDonald and Oakdale boroughs in Allegheny County. It also includes Cecil, Chartiers, Mt. Pleasant, and North Strabane townships, as well as Canonsburg, Houston, and McDonald boroughs in Washington County.
With the funding now secured, the construction of ADA-compliant restrooms at Heritage Park can begin, further improving the park's amenities and ensuring a positive experience for all visitors.
