Upcoming School Board Meeting to discuss District’s Health and Safety Plan
We are writing to provide you with additional information regarding the District’s Health & Safety Plan and continued mitigation measures following the end of the statewide mask mandate for schools. As previously communicated, the District’s Health & Safety Plan currently requires universal masking in the District’s K-12 school buildings, even in the absence of the state mask mandate. Although the Plan allows for some modifications by the Superintendent, the community must have the opportunity to provide input prior to revisions. Formal revisions must be voted upon by the Board, and the Board has requested a meeting to discuss the Plan prior to any revisions.
The current Health & Safety Plan was approved in August, right before the state mask mandate went into effect. Now that the state mandate has ended, the School Board will review the Health & Safety Plan, including the previously adopted local masking requirement, and other related health and safety protocols that are currently in place.
The School Board meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 10, 2022, will be devoted to a review of the District’s Health & Safety Plan. In order to better accommodate a larger audience, the meeting has been relocated to the Upper St. Clair High School theater. There will be opportunity for public comment in-person at the meeting prior to the Board voting on any potential revisions to the Plan.
Residents can also provide input via an online form in advance of the meeting. Click here to access the online form. All communication regarding the Health & Safety Plan should be submitted via this form to ensure that the information is reviewed by the Board and administration. Please know that our School Board members value feedback from our community and take the time to read all online submissions. Comments submitted in advance will be distributed to the Board and administration for review and consideration prior to the Board meeting. To ensure ample opportunity for review, please submit your feedback via the online form by Friday, Jan. 7, 2022.
