Legislation aimed at maintaining access to prescription medications for Pennsylvania seniors has passed the Senate, as confirmed by Sen. Devlin Robinson (R-37), a supporter of the measure.
Senate Bill 731 seeks to extend the exclusion of Social Security cost-of-living adjustments from income eligibility calculations for the PACE and PACENET programs. This exclusion is due to expire at the end of 2025, but Senate Bill 731 proposes an extension through December 31, 2027.
“This is crucial to protecting our seniors,” Robinson stated. “I am proud to support this legislative measure to ensure more of my senior constituents remain eligible for these cost-saving programs.”
The PACE and PACENET programs, funded by the Pennsylvania Lottery, have assisted hundreds of thousands of older adults since their inception by offering low-cost prescriptions to those aged 65 and older.
The bill will now proceed to the House of Representatives for further consideration.
