Senator Devlin Robinson is set to honor four Purple Star Schools in Pennsylvania during a press conference on April 2. The event will take place at 10 a.m. at the Capitol Media Center within the Pennsylvania State Capitol. The goal is to commend schools aiding military families and to motivate other schools to join the Purple Star program.

There are around 2 million children in the U.S. with military parents, and 37,000 of them reside in Pennsylvania. Robinson, alongside Sen. Pat Stefano, played a key role during the 2021-22 Senate session by supporting Senate Bill 1028. This led to House Bill 1867, now Act 69 of 2022, enabling schools throughout Pennsylvania to achieve Purple Star status.

April marks Month of the Military Child, with April 15 recognized as Purple Up for Military Kids Day. This period acknowledges children from military families for their resilience and strength. Wearing purple symbolizes support and unity among military branches.

Dr. Carrie Rowe, Acting Secretary of Education, and Adjutant Gen. John R. Pippy are expected to be present.

A livestream of the event will be available.
