Rep. Valerie Gaydos has announced that the Borough of Leetsdale will receive a $14,987 grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC). The funds are intended to support historic preservation efforts within the community.
“This funding is a great opportunity for Leetsdale to preserve its rich history while laying the foundation for future revitalization and community pride,” stated Gaydos. “I’m proud to support efforts that recognize and protect the cultural and historical assets of our region.”
The grant will be used for the Leetsdale Historical Resource Survey, which aims to identify and document historic resources in the borough. The project will result in a geodatabase, a comprehensive survey report, and strategic recommendations for future preservation activities.
The initiative includes developing Leetsdale’s first historic preservation ordinance, assessing local resources’ eligibility for the National Register of Historic Places, and initiating historic and cultural outreach programs. These efforts are part of a strategy to qualify Leetsdale for Certified Local Government designation, potentially leading to further preservation funding.
The PHMC grant program offers competitive funding opportunities supporting historical and cultural preservation across Pennsylvania.
